Spring Updates, Tryout Info & Big News from HVS

Strong Spring Across All Teams!


As the spring season nears its end, our HVS teams are showing just how far they’ve come.

  • Our MLS NEXT teams have been competing with—and beating—some of the best teams in the country.
  • NEXT 2 squads continue to shine with great wins and consistent, high-level performances.
  • Both Girls Academy teams have impressed this spring, often competing up an age group and rising to the challenge.
  • U11 & U12 teams are clicking, showing strong chemistry and game understanding that’s only grown over the season.


Tryouts Are Almost Here:


  • Tryouts can be an exciting but anxious time for players. It’s important to remember that our coaches evaluate performance over time—not just during tryout week. Encourage your child to get good rest, eat well, and stay positive. Coaches are looking for effort, teamwork, and the unique qualities each player brings to the field.

Pre-Tryout Camp (Optional but strongly encouraged):


Held Thursday & Friday before tryouts, our Pre-Tryout Camp is a great opportunity to stay sharp, get touches, and get familiar with the tryout environment.



Program Highlights for 2024–2025

  • Boys U13–U19 will feature two teams per age group in MLS NEXT and MLS NEXT Tier 2 (formerly NAL).
  • Girls U13–U19 continue in the Girls Academy League for our second year, with a second team at U13 & U14.
  • 2014 & 2015 Boys & Girls will have two teams per age group, competing in strong regional leagues with less travel.


College Commitments & Special Recognitions


We’re proud to announce that 33 HVS players have signed to play college soccer next year—a club record!


Notable Standouts:

  • Matthew Garcia (2007) was invited by Nashville SC to join their U18 Academy at the GA Cup, one of the most competitive youth tournaments in the U.S.
  • Shiloh Duesner (2011) made history as the first Alabama girl selected for the ID2 National Team, traveling to France and helping her team keep three consecutive clean sheets.
