HVS Director’s Cut Vol. 4-7

December was an exciting month.  Four MLS teams competed at the Winter Fest in Phoenix, AZ.  Nearly 100 college coaches watched our teams play and many MLS Scouts were in attendance as well.  So far, several players have been invited on trial to MLS Academies after the Fest. We also received $25,000 from Door Dash because of our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion programs.  Door Dash & MLS selected HVS as one of six recipients nationwide for this funding.  HVS received lots of Social Media attention from the presentation that was made at Fest.

Three Next2 teams traveled to Florida for the IMG Showcase.  All 3 teams won at least one game.  Despite the rainy weather, many college coaches were in attendance and our players did a great job of showcasing their talent.

17 players, 3 coaches, and 9 family members are in Spain for our 2nd International Tour of the year.  We expect they will have a similarly great experience as our girls did in November. They will play 3 games, watch a professional match, and enjoy lots of cultural experiences. Our MLS Boys will have the chance to travel to Germany in March during Spring Break.  Look for more details in the next few weeks.

Our DPL girls are headed in early January to the DPL Showcase in Tampa.  This will be the last event of the season for most of our girls.  We expect great weather and lots of college coaches to be at this event.

We also began our Futures Training for 2012, 2013 and 2014 players. Over 100 players have been attending training with HVS coaches.  This program is designed to help younger players learn how to compete at a high level as they move from Rec to Competitive Soccer.

Many colleges have begun making offers to recruits as they look to sign their next generation of players.  We are excited that 8 HVS players have already made their college commitment.  Congratulations to Adam Watson (North Central College), Devin James (Bard College), Joel Callins (Shaw Univ.), Raul Hernandez (Southern Union), Matthew Chaux (Southern Union), Katie Irving (Florida Southern), Cecilia Smith (Georgia State), and Lanie Shaw (Univ. of Mobile).  We can’t wait to see who is next!

We hope everyone enjoys their Holiday break.  We can’t wait to see you back on the fields very soon.

Sincerely,

Mike Getman
