The Director’s Cut, Vol. 4-6
Keep your eyes on the prize!
A great quote that is easier said then done. We are nearly 4 months into the season. HVS teams have conducted thousands of practices, competed in over 400 games, have traveled all around the Southeast and have endured extremely hot weather and more recently very cold temperatures. It is easy to get worn out. Learning to compete, to endure and persevere are some of the most important lessons we gain through youth sports.
A few of our teams have completed the fall season. Many are just heading into showcase events and games that require long travel and a big commitment from the entire family. Winning makes these games fun for a day. But learning to overcome obstacles, learning to play your best when you maybe don’t feel you are at your best, digging deep and overcoming fatigue, bumps and bruises, and all the other pains of a long season, these are the things we will remember for a lifetime.
Some of our girls just returned from a trip to Spain. They played 3 games going 1-1-1. They saw a professional match in the Women’s League, they did some sightseeing, they learned about bull fighting and they had a once in a lifetime experience. One of our girls has even been invited to sign with a professional club in Spain! Click here to see more: https://www.facebook.com/reel/711499947264219
Our DPL teams are headed to the Raleigh Showcase in December and the DPL Showcase in January. Our Next 2 teams competed in the Adidas College Showcase in November, are headed to the IMG Showcase in December and some will play in the Winter Elite Showcase & ID Camp in January. Our MLS Next teams will compete in the MLS Fest in December, the Winter Elite Showcase & ID Camp in January and in the IMG Showcase in February. Each of these events provide an opportunity to play against great competition, showcase our talents, and experience what it is like to play in front of college coaches and professional scouts.
No matter where your showcase event is held, make sure to bring some warm clothes with you. Even the desert gets cold at night and in the morning. It is better to take off layers as you get warm. Rather than freeze because you didn’t bring a sweatshirt or sweatpant.
Several of our players have already received college offers. Many more will receive offers over the next few months. This can be a stressful time for players and for their families. Our club will continue to offer help and support in this process. Just as in past years, I am confident every single one of our Seniors will receive multiple offers to play college soccer.
