Director’s Cut, Vol. 9

It has been another good week for HVS Teams and players.  Our NPL teams were a combined 10-5-4 over the past week and we had several of our High School seniors accept offers to play college soccer.  I expect many more commitments over the next few weeks.

We hosted our first ever HVS Night.  Our youngest and our oldest teams were all in action on Wednesday night.  Congratulations to our 09 Boys for winning their State League game and congratulations to our 09 girls for a great match and tie against the very good Hoover SC  Phantoms.

Our 03/02 Boys & Girls competed with our 04 teams in front of college coaches, family and friends.  Both games were very competitive and a great showcase for our players.  Thank you to Jimmy John’s for sponsoring the event and providing all of our players with delicious sandwiches.

Covid continues to increase its impact on our families and our teams.  We have had several players miss team events due to being quarantined.  We have also had many games postponed due to opponents being quarantined.  With different rules in place at every club and every state, the number of disruptions is growing.

As we head into this Thanksgiving holiday, I am grateful that we have all been able to play the game we love and continue to do so while much of the world is coming to a stand-still.  I am thankful for all the coaches, referees, trainers and other support staff who have given so much of their time to allow our kids to have this very important time to play and enjoy the sport.  A special shout out to our Team Managers/Administrators who give a great deal of time and effort so that the season will run smoothly for everyone.

If you are looking for a Holiday gift or just a way to keep warm on these cool evenings, check out our HVS Hoodie.  They are being sold as a fundraiser and are a bargain at just $30.  We sold out of our first order but have more back in stock.  We have Youth Large thru Adult XL. For more details, please contact Mandi Jowers at [email protected].

Finally, I hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.  This will certainly be a very different holiday from what we are all used to.  May you and your family find reasons to be thankful during this challenging time.
