About
Mike Getman is a former professional soccer player and one of the most accomplished collegiate coaches in the country. A member of the Indiana Soccer Hall of Fame, he ranks 15th all-time in NCAA Division I coaching victories with a career record of 322–218–56 (.605).
Getman served as the Head Coach at UAB from 1992 to 2018, leading the Blazers to six conference titles and eight NCAA Tournament appearances—including a historic Elite Eight run. He is one of only two coaches in UAB history to guide a team to the Elite Eight (alongside legendary basketball coach Gene Bartow).
Before UAB, Getman was the Head Coach at Harvard University (1987–1992), where he led the Crimson to an undefeated regular season and a Final Four appearance. He was named Conference Coach of the Year three times and honored as Conference USA’s “Coach of the Decade.” He remains the winningest coach in C-USA history.
As a player, Getman competed for Indiana University and later played professionally with the Detroit Express. More than 50 of his former players have advanced to the professional ranks.
