I hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday and got to spend some time with family.
As we head into December, we are coming off a month of strong progress for our club. Almost all of our teams won more games in November than in any other month. Our winning percentage has continued to climb and almost all of our NPL teams are still in the hunt for playoff positioning.
The next few weeks have our teams playing some important matches. December and January are also big months for Showcases and recruiting events for many of our players and teams.
We have had a number of games canceled or rescheduled due to COVID. The rate of cancellations has climbed each of the past few weeks. I thought it would be beneficial to share some HVS COVID statistics, as the next few weeks will be the most challenging of the season for us, exposure- wise.
- Among the HVS reported cases and exposures, ~1/3 have been boys, ~2/3 have been girls… A REMINDER to all Girls Teams to MASK UP, and don’t carpool.
- Half of the reported cases have been in the older kids (U17 & U18). This is consistent with what is appreciated about viral infectivity and likelihood of symptoms in older kids and adults. We are also aware that local high schools have seen a dramatic rise in cases in November, so many of these reports are likely exposures at school that do not result in infection. Regardless, THIS IS A REMINDER to our older players to wear masks and social distance.
Very few of our teams have been the reason for game cancellations. I am hopeful that this will continue to be the case. Please remember to stay home if you are experiencing any symptoms.
If you are looking for a Holiday gift or just a way to keep warm on these cold evenings, check out our HVS Hoodie. They are being sold as a fundraiser and are a bargain at just $30. We have less than 2 dozen remaining so don’t wait if you would like one. We have Youth Large, Adult Medium and Adult Large left in stock. To order, please contact Mandi Jowers at email@example.com.
I look forward to seeing everyone on the field.
