The Director’s Cut Vol. 7

HVS teams continue to climb up the league table in many age groups. In fact, this past weekend, our girls NPL teams went 6-0-0 on Saturday and 7-1-0 for the weekend. Our boys NPL went 4-1-0 on Saturday and 7-4-0 for the weekend. Our 5 teams playing State League went 4-1 this week.

The weekend before saw most of our teams playing in the Hoover Invitational Tournament. 10 teams finished playing in the Finals with 4 teams winning the title.

The Birmingham Legion have restarted their “Academy” program inviting 11 of our players out to training. This Legion Academy team will train once per week with games to be played in May & June. We are excited to support Birmingham’s only professional team and look forward to our players gaining even more valuable experience.

It is easy to focus on the wins and losses when we are in the middle of the season. As the Director of Coaching, I am most proud of the way our teams and players are developing. That is our ultimate objective. Helping our players reach a higher level of skill and understanding means that our players will have the tools necessary to compete and enjoy the game as they get older.

When I watch our games, I can see the massive development that has already taken place. I am excited to see just how far each team and each individual can go.

Two of our girls have recently committed to colleges for next year. Over the coming months, I expect many more announcements to follow.

I look forward to seeing everyone on the fields for another great week of HVS Soccer.
